A
smaller beach lies tucked between cliffs at the mouth of the Rio Jibacoa,
about three kilometres east of Santa Cruz del Norte, bracketed by rocky
headlands. Coral reefs lie close to shore, perfect for snorkelling and
scuba diving. The waters are every shade of jade and blue. A series of
white and reddish sand beaches extends further east.
This beach is very popular with Cubans. You can reach Jibacoa on bus from
Santa Cruz, or from Casablanca near Havana (or Matanzas, or points in
between) on the Hershey Train (get off at Jibacoa Pueblo, about 5 Km south
of Jibacoa)
